The JA Classroom Challenge is a school-based competition developed by the JASEM office. The program’s goal was to increase the visibility of JA programming locally and to have schools self-identify volunteers to facilitate JA programs. The program targets existing school volunteers, school boards and active parents interested in engaging youth through JA program model. With a generous donation from eTitle, JASEM can provide funding for school supplies valued in $1,500, $2,500 and $5,000 increments. “eTitle is honored to support educators and caring adults willing to provide Junior Achievement to young people throughout Southeast Michigan. JA’s focus on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and career readiness are critical to future economic growth and regional prosperity. We are happy to support JA Classroom challenge winners who are inspiring our youth through JA programs.” Says Linda Orlans, Founder and Executive Chairman of eTitle Agency.

In the Fall 2019, eighteen schools identified their participation in the JA Classroom Challenge; courses were to be completed before March 31, 2020. “The conclusion of this year’s competition was during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Michigan. Our schools were diligent in their engagement with JA prior to the Governor closing schools and moving to remote learning for the balance of the school year. We appreciate eTitle’s recognizing that it was important for JA to honor its commitment to our schools and educators during these challenging times.” says Jason D. Lee, JASEM President & CEO.

Due to positive responses received from school partners, JASEM plans to have the JA Classroom Challenge for the 2020-2021 School Year. The program will officially be announced in late summer, early fall. Information will be available on the JASEM website: www.jamichigan.org/ . “As educators and school systems begin to plan for the 2020-2021 school year, we hope that educators will consider Junior Achievement programming, whether virtual or teacher facilitated for students.” says Jason D. Lee.
